AN URGENT REQUEST FOR COVID-19

Salem Social Service Society (SSSS) is a non-profit, non-governmental and diocesan voluntary organization registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and working for the development of the poor, suppressed and oppressed sections of the society. It has been rendering its valuable service in the areas of Animation, Development and Support services since its inception in 1968. It has been working to uplift the marginalized people irrespective of caste, creed and religious discrimination in Salem and Namakkal districts of Tamil Nadu,
From its inception in 1968, the organization has been successfully carrying out various activities such as, Relief and Rehabilitation, Prevention of Female Infanticide and Child Labour, Nutrition and Educational support to children, Youth Animation, Women Empowerment through formation of Self Help Groups, Fight against Dowry and Gender Inequality, Health and Sanitation, Organic Agriculture, Environmental Protection, and other developmental and rights based programs for the poor and the down trodden.SSS has been implementing all the activities towards Sustainable Development Goals.
We present to you “SUPPORTING COVID-19 SECOND WAVE IN VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES SALEM AND NAMAKKAL DISTRICTS” And United Hands against the Corona virus pandemic for around 1000 vulnerable families belong to women’s Self Help Groups, local small farmers and extremely poor families in Salem Diocese, Tamilnadu, India.
During this demanding time of COVID-19 situation and its subsequent lockdown, from May 10th to 24th May 2021. Lock down may be extended due to the severe spread of Covid 19. Salem Social Service Society convened Executive committee meeting on April 10, 2021. In this meeting, we discussed issues affecting our people COVID-19 pandemic and unanimously evolved the following plan to garner funds from your good self.
Aim
To ensure poor and extreme poor of Salem diocese will be restored a healthy and normal life despite the challenges of COVID-19 situations.
Specific Objectives
- Through private hospitals vaccinating 500 poor people who have no money to purchase vaccine.
- To raise awareness among the extremely poor and Marginal farmers population for health and hygienic practices for prevention of COVID-19.
- To provide health kit to poor and extreme poor families and psychological support
- To provide groceries for 500 families.
