Project Title : Vocational Education and Sustainable Agriculture Practices in India (VESAI)

Target Area

Attur, Salem, Gangavalli, Thalaivasal and Ayothiapattinam blocks in Salem District of Tamil Nadu, India

Overall Objective:

To ensure a better quality of life among poor women with small and marginal land holdings and school dropout youth in Salem district.

Specific objectives:

1. To enhance capacities of 400 poor women with small and marginal land holdings in sustainable agricultural practices by 2018.
2. To increase employable skills of 420 dropout youths to avail better employment by 2018.
3. To enhance employability and vocational skills of women
4. To help women improve their standard of living

The achievement of these specific objectives will be gauged mainly against these indicators:

1. Created a learning model of integrated farm and an effective module to capacitate the women farmers in sustainable agricultural practices by 2016.
2. At least 60% of the target women farmers have increased capacities in sustainable agricultural practices by 2018.
3. At least 40% of the target women farmers have improved practicing of learned agricultural practices in their lands.
4. At least 70% of the dropout youth have improved knowledge and skills in their respective vocational course.
5. At least 50% of the dropout youth have availed employment pertaining to their specialised trade.
