Project Title : Vocational Education and Sustainable Agriculture Practices in India (VESAI)
Target Area
Attur, Salem, Gangavalli, Thalaivasal and Ayothiapattinam blocks in Salem District of
Tamil Nadu, India
Overall Objective:
To ensure a better quality of life among poor women with small and marginal land holdings and
school dropout youth in Salem district.
Specific objectives:
- To enhance capacities of 400 poor women with small and marginal land holdings in sustainable
agricultural practices by 2018.
- To increase employable skills of 420 dropout youths to avail better employment by 2018.
- To enhance employability and vocational skills of women
- To help women improve their standard of living
The achievement of these specific objectives will be gauged mainly against these indicators:
- Created a learning model of integrated farm and an effective module to capacitate the women
farmers in sustainable agricultural practices by 2016.
- At least 60% of the target women farmers have increased capacities in sustainable
agricultural practices by 2018.
- At least 40% of the target women farmers have improved practicing of learned agricultural
practices in their lands.
- At least 70% of the dropout youth have improved knowledge and skills in their respective
vocational course.
- At least 50% of the dropout youth have availed employment pertaining to their specialised
trade.
