Project Support for:
Promoting sustainable and environmental friendly power supply to Salem Social Service
Society through installation of solar power systems.
The project objectives:
- To install solar energy power system to ensure sustainable and environmental friendly power
supply and to support environmental sustainability and follow MDG goals.
Executed Action
The following activities were carried out:
- The Project Management Committee comprising of Bishop, Secretary of SSSS, general body
members and laities approved the project action. Two representatives of general body members
appointed to oversee the installation of solar power panel in SSSS building.
- Approached an appropriate dealer of solar panel system for installation and maintenance.
- Established new electrical cables to install the solar panel.
- Installed solar panel in the top roof of the SSSS building.
- The general body members of SSSS visited the building and expressed positive tone towards
the installation of solar power panel.
Changes achieved through the Action
- Installed solar panel in the SSSS building at Salem.
- Currently, there is uninterrupted electricity supply in the building and there is no
disruption for conducting training programmes and meetings for the women self-help groups
and community based organisations.
- The installation of solar panel has created a functional space for proper operation of the
SSSS activities.
